45th Anniversary of Earth Day

Today is the 45th anniversary of Earth Day.  Every year on April 22, over a billion people in 190 countries take action for Earth Day. From San Francisco to San Juan, Beijing to Brussels, Moscow to Marrakesh, people plant trees, clean up their communities, recycle their end-of-life electronics and equipment, contact their elected officials, and more—all on behalf of the environment.  Like Earth Days of the past, Earth Day 2015 will focus on the unique environmental challenges of our time. As the world’s population migrates to cities, and as the bleak reality of climate change becomes increasingly clear, the need to create sustainable communities is more important than ever. Earth Day 2015 will seek to do just that through its global theme: It’s our turn to lead. With smart investments in sustainable technology, forward-thinking public policy, and an educated and active public, we can transform our cities and forge a sustainable future. Nothing is more powerful than the collective action of a billion people.

As a leading environmental services company, Turtle Wings & Data Killers annually performs a variety of Earth Day activities such as electronics recycling events, Gaylord drop-offs, business and residential pick-ups, on-site data destruction projects and customer drop-offs.  By offering on-site data destruction via hard drive crushing and hard drive shredding, Turtle Wings & Data Killers is able to tap into the data security market which many people and companies are adamant about.  Our proprietary four shaft technology, which is self-contained and self-powered in our trucks and warehouses, allows us to shred any type of material down to the size of a dime. The on-site hard drive shredding process not only cuts and shreds the metal but, by forcing it through the cutters and screens, it also compacts the hard drive rendering it completely unrecoverable.  Turtle Wings & Data Killers then recycles the hard drives in compliance with all local, state and federal regulations.  As an R2 certified electronics recycler, we believe in doing our utmost to assist our customers in the proper disposal of their electronics and being globally responsible. On this 45th anniversary of Earth Day, Turtle Wings & Data Killers is proud to inspire awareness of and appreciation for the earth’s environment.
