DATA KILLERS CEO wins Heroines in Technology Award

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD., November 20th 2009 – Data Killers founder, Elizabeth Wilmot won the March of Dimes Heroines in Technology award. The Heroines in Technology Award was created to acknowledge women who work in the technology sector who also perform outstanding volunteer efforts.

Data Killers is an environmental services company that provides electronics recycling and data destruction services to nationwide customers. Turtle Wings has a no e-waste landfill policy and is committed to domestic recycling of electronics. Data Killers also provides de-installation services and witnessed incineration programs.

“Winning this award was truly an unexpected surprise considering that all the finalists were very qualified. This award recognizes the importance of Data Killers’ mission to provide globally responsible recycling services and to spread awareness about recycling. Our recycling efforts and events throughout the region have now officially been recognized,” said Elizabeth Wilmot.

Elizabeth won for being an active member of TWIG which is a the junior auxiliary of  INOVA Alexandria Hospital. TWIG has been an active woman’s charity for over 75 years and has contributed over two million dollars to the hospital. All members of TWIG work many hours each month in their thrift shop located in Old Town Alexandria as well as serving on a committee.

The event was a benefit for the March of Dimes, which conducted the event along with Women in Technology. Women in Technology provides women in the technology community a networking and professional growth environment to develop relationships and create new opportunities.
