Destroying hard drives on-site in Pittsburgh

With Christmas and a new calendar year quickly approaching, Data Killers is extremely busy with the hustle and bustle involved in completing data destruction projects for customer’s prior to the long holiday break and the New Year. Although December is not the fiscal year end for government and most corporate clientele, it still proves to be one of our busiest months because many customers have projects that must be completed before the year end. Data Killers goes above and beyond to meet customer expectations and scheduling constraints, while ensuring accurate and compliant on-site hard drive shredding services. Our most recent job was destroying hard drives on-site in Pittsburgh for a leading manufacturer of electronic products for the consumer and professional markets. Many of the United States’ largest companies have a Pittsburgh presence, including Alcoa, Bayer, Calgon Carbon, Del Monte Foods, FedEx Ground, Freemarkets, GlaxoSmithKline, H.J. Heinz Company, PNC Financial Services Group, PPG Industries, Sony Electronics, US Steel Corporation and Westinghouse Electrice Company.

This one day project consisted of on-site hard drive degaussing followed by on-site hard drive shredding. Our customer in Pittsburgh had stringent guidelines and requirements that Data Killers easily and readily adhered to. In a short time, Data Killers certified data technicians were able to thoroughly destroy over 1600 hard drives. The on-site hard drive shredding process not only cuts and shreds the metal but, by forcing it through the cutters and screens, it also compacts the hard drive rendering it completely unrecoverable. Data Killers process of degaussing then shredding is the only NSA approved process to destroy hard drives. Our NSA approved hard drive degaussers are annually re-certified by an outside third party. This two-step process of disk degaussing then shredding satisfies all DoD regulations and guidelines. Although the hard drives weren’t classified, our customer requested that we destroy them using the protocols for classified hard drive destruction.

The key component to our nationwide data destruction capabilities is our proprietary trucks, which are fully equipped with top-rated shredders, degaussers, and destruction equipment. Data Killers trucks are partially manufactured by one of the largest energy suppliers to the federal government. Our trucks are self-powered and autonomous with high quality generators, which provide full power to our equipment. Our unique process along with highly trained personnel provides the highest level of security for hard drive disposal. Data Killers on-site hard drive shredding in Pittsburgh and nationwide is compliant with all local, state and federal regulations for hard drive destruction.
